Microsoft Outlook is pretty solid when it comes down to blocking spam messages. Users can perform several changes to make their inbox much safer than ever. However, there will come a time when spam or junk emails will definitely slip through the cracks. What you then need is a good spam filter to block spam and junk email on your Outlook.
Outlook Spam Filters & Spam Blockers
The spam blockers we are going to talk about today have a free version of spam filter tools for Microsoft Outlook on the desktop. You can use them free for personal use.
1] MailWasher Free
MailWasher comes in two versions, but we will focus on the free version today, obviously. Now, the free version is powerful but limited in what it can do. You see, it can only protect a single account, but not only that, it is not able to block emails based on country of origin.
Once the program is installed, folks shouldn’t have to do much after that because the protection is automatic. Still, if you’re not pleased, then simply add to the blacklist to make it stronger than ever.

If you are looking for a spam utility for Outlook that is even recommended by Microsoft, then we would love for you to look at SPAMfighter. This is no doubt a powerful tool because once installed, it will protect all your accounts in Outlook, Outlook Express, and even Mozilla Thunderbird.
Whenever an email is received by your Outlook client, right away it will scan it to determine if its spam, and if such is the case, then right into the spam folder it goes. Now, if for some reason it misses a spam mail, a simple click of the mouse can update its database to make sure the same type of mail gets caught next time.

3] Spam Reader
This one is very awesome, and we say that because it takes a short while for it to scan thousands of emails within the Outlook client. Not only that, but Spam Reader can analyze your inbox to learn more about how you’re using it.
Depending on the messages you’ve set as spam, and the ones you’ve clearly ticked as not spam, the tool will over time get an understanding of your usage, and as such, will never mark similar messages as dangerous in the future.
We should point out there are two versions of this tool; one that is free, and one that will cost you up to $60.

We have to say, the name Spamihilator is quite impressive, but the tool itself is even more so. You see, while it isn’t a unique tool when compared t the others, it does support plugins to improve its capabilities. It also supports POP3 and IMAP, though we do recommend using IMAP if you can.
Please note, Spamihilator hasn’t seen an update in quite a while, but the service is still in working condition, at least for now.
