Through Windows Updates, your system remains up-to-date with the latest definitions of the build operating system. Microsoft releases the latest updates periodically and users are advised to install the updates regularly to avoid issues on their system. But what if Windows Updates itself is experiencing issues in checking, downloading, or installing the updates.
Recently, we came around one such error which is as follows:
Error Code 80244FFF, Windows could not search for new updates
Fix Windows Update Error Code 80244FFF
If you’ve just faced this issue, we recommend you to restart your system at the initial stage. Make sure your system time, region are correct. You may also try the Windows Update Automated Troubleshooter or these Windows Update troubleshooting steps. If all of these options doesn’t works and issue still persists, then read on!
1. Press Windows Key + R combination and put inetcpl.cpl and hit Enter to open Internet Properties.
2. In the Internet Properties window, under Local Area Network (LAN) Settings, click LAN Settings option.
3. Next, in the LAN Settings window shown below, check the Use a proxy server for your LAN option under Proxy server heading. Click Advanced then.
4. Moving on, in the Proxy Settings window, input the HTTP and Secure Type boxes with 127.0.0.1 proxy address.
Put 8888 into the corresponding Port input box. Lastly, in the Exceptions section, type <-loopback>. Click OK then OK, then Apply followed by OK.
In this way, we have configured the favorable settings for Windows Updates. Thus you should now be able to check, download and install the Windows Updates, bypassing the error.
However, with these settings, Internet Explorer may not work fine. If that’s the case you came around, install the Windows Updates first and then disable the Use a proxy server for your LAN option (step 3), simply.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
