Fans of the Bing home page images may be delighted to learn that Microsoft has just released a beta version of Bing Desktop – which will let you bring the Bing homepage to your Windows desktop.
Display Bing home page images as wallpapers on your Windows desktop
Bing Desktop is a 1.4MB download from Microsoft, that will on a daily basis, deliver the beautiful Bing images directly to your Windows computer and set them as wallpapers. Apart from this, the application displays a neat looking Bing search box in the center of your desktop, allowing you quick access to search on the web.
When you download and install the tool, you will be towards the end, asked to set a few options. Set them to your liking and click on Finish.
In a few moments, Bing Desktop will display a new Bing wallpaper and will provide an automatic update of the Windows Desktop Background image to the Bing home page image each day.
The easily accessible yet unobtrusive search box will let you search quickly, without your needing to open the browser. To exit the search box, you have to click on its taskbar icon. Click again if you wish to make it appear again. To exit the Bing Desktop, right-click the taskbar icon and select Exit. I would have, by the way, preferred if the icon rested in the notification area, instead of as a taskbar icon.
To learn something about the wallpaper being displayed, click on the ‘i’ button.
To change your preferences, click on the Gear image > Settings.
Enjoy the beauty of Bing wallpapers on your Windows desktop!
