When most of your attempts in finding a file on your computer fail or do not yield the desired results, you try to restore it from a previous version. It helps you restore files and folders that you accidentally deleted, or damaged but, if you don’t use that option, you can remove it. In this post, we show you to remove Restore Previous Versions entry from the Context Menu in Windows 11/10.
Remove Restore previous versions entry from Context menu
Previous versions can be viewed as copies of files and folders created by Windows Backup or the ones the OS saves automatically as part of a restore point. Depending on the type of file or folder, you can open, save to a different location, or restore a previous version.
- Open Registry Editor.
- Navigate to this Registry key.
- Create a new string value.
- Keep the Data Value for the above entry empty.
- Restart your PC.
Press Win+R in combination to open the ‘Run’ dialog box.
Type ‘regedit’ in the empty field of the box and press ‘Enter’.
When the Registry Editor opens, navigate to the following path address –
Now, switch to the right-pane and create a new string value –
Keep the data value for the above entry empty.
Close the Registry Editor and exit.
Restart your PC. The ‘Restore previous versions’ entry should no more be visible under the right-click Context menu in Windows 11/10.
