MAK or Multiple Activation Keys is a type of Volume Licensing from Microsoft for Windows. You can activate multiple computers with the same key. However, there is a limit on the count. That said, there is one drawback with MAK though. If the computer goes through re-installation, the key will be of no use. You will need a new MAK key to activate Windows. The computer will not activate over the Internet
If you are not able to activate the computer over the internet, you can check on the following:
- Independent activation: If there is no corporate network in your organization, it is best to activate the computer over the telephone.
- Proxy activation: If there is a corporate network, you can use MAK Proxy activation. It can send activation requests in bulk. IT admin will have to set up MAK Proxy. This can be done using the Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT).
