How to use AI in Canva

This article shows how to use Canva AI. In this post, we will discuss the Canva AI image generator, video generator, presentation maker, music generator, voice generator, and other features that it offers.

Canva is a popular online graphics design tool. It is also available as a Desktop app. Whether it is a YouTube thumbnail or a social media post, you can create it within a few clicks with Canva. It also has a large collection of pre-defined templates. Now, Canva has introduced its AI assistant. The Canva AI assistant is an all-in-one tool that lets you create images, draft documents, and do a lot more things.

How to use AI in Canva

To use Canva AI Assistant, use these simple steps:

Visit its official website, canva.com.
Sign in with your registered account or sign up with any one of the available options.

After signing into your Canva account, you will see the Canva AI option on your Home feed. Or, you can also access the Canva AI from the left pane.

When you select the Canva AI, you will see the following options:

Design for me
Create an image
Draft a doc
Code for me

We will discuss all these options one by one. If you scroll down the page, you will see some examples of what you can do with Canva AI.

1] Design for me

The Design for me option allows you to create social media posts, presentations, marketing collateral to promote your business, logos, and invitation cards. All these design options will become visible automatically as you click Design for me.

After you select a design, it will show you more customization options. For example, if you select Social media, you can select the required format, such as Facebook cover image, YouTube banner image, Pinterest pin, Instagram post, etc. All these customization options are available in the Format drop-down.

Let’s create a Facebook post on “How to use Canva for free.” Simply, select the Facebook post from the Format options and write a simple prompt, and hit Enter:

It will create four stunning graphics to be posted on your Facebook page. You can select the best one from the generated responses. Additionally, you can also use the Canva editor to edit these generated responses.

2] Create an image (Canva AI Image Generator)

This is a text-to-image generator tool in Canva AI. You can generate high-quality images by entering prompts. Like other AI text-to-image generator tools, it also supports multiple image style options, such as cinematic, creative, sketch, illustration, 3D render, and more. Additionally, different aspect ratios are also available to generate images.

Select the Create an image option, then select the desired style, and then select the required aspect ratio. That’s it. Now, you have to enter a prompt to generate an image. You can write simple prompts to more advanced ones based on the output you want. The more detailed the prompt you enter, the higher the quality of the image you will get. If you are not good at prompt generation, you can use other AI tools, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, etc.

It has a Prompt Enhancement feature that enhances every prompt you enter to generate images. If you enter a more detailed prompt, it will refine it too and generate more stunning images.

3] Draft a Doc

Using this feature, you can draft different documents, such as a blog post, a social media post, a summary, an article, a story, a story script, an email reply, a letter, etc.

Click Draft a Doc, then select the required category from the Type drop-down. Now, enter a prompt.

4] Code for me

Using this feature, you can create apps, websites, games, etc. When you select this option, you will see some examples below. You can select any of them or type a new prompt.

After giving the prompt, it will start coding. This process will take time. After completing coding, it shows the final result. You can share the generated result. For this, click on the Use in a design option and select Doc. Other options are also available, including a website, a presentation, and a whiteboard. You can also select any of them. To publish the generated result on your website, you have to select the Use a Custom Domain option.

Apart from these options, an Embed feature is also available that allows embedding the generated response into an existing website. Additionally, you can also create a Public view link to share the document directly with anyone.

The image generation feature in Canva AI is for limited use under the free plan. Also, the PowerPoint presentations have a Canva watermark.

Canva AI Video Generator

Canva AI has multiple AI video generator tools. Some of them are paid, and some are free with limitations. To use the Canva AI Video Generator, click the Apps category from the left pane and select the AI generation tab on the right side. Now, scroll down to the AI videos section and select any AI video generation tool. The AI Video by VEED is a free tool, but it adds a watermark to the generated video.

With the AI Video by VEED tool, you can generate videos with voice only or an AI avatar voiceover. Write a prompt, select the voice style, and click Generate.

Canva AI Music Generator

Canv AI Music Generator is a great AI tool that lets you generate music. To use this tool, select AI Music from the list of AI apps. Now, select a sound style from the list of available tags. Enter duration in seconds and click Generate. Each second costs one credit. Therefore, if you generate a 25-second-long music, it will cost you 25 credits.

It gives 900 free tokens under the free plan. This limit resets every month.

Canva AI text-to-voice generator

Voice AI enables you to convert text into speech. Select the Voice AI tool in Canva AI, then enter the script. Select a voice and then click the Generate button. You will get 1000 free credits, and each character costs one credit.

Canva AI Presentation Maker

The Canva AI Presentation is a free tool. However, if the presentation contains premium images, they will have a watermark. To use it, select Canva AI > Design for me > Presentation. Now, enter the topic to create a presentation. If you want specific pages in your presentation, specify them in the prompt. For example, a 10-slide presentation on Biodiversity.
