1] FrontAccounting ERP
FrontAccounting ERP is a free open source ERP software that offers a lot of features to the users. You can use this software for logistics management. It is a web-based software that will be installed on your server.
To run this software, you should install hosting client software on your PC, like Xampp. FrontAccounting ERP is downloaded in a zip file. Extract it by right-clicking on it. After extracting it, copy the entire folder and paste it in the “htdocs” folder of the Xampp software. This folder is located in the C:\xampp directory. After copying, rename the folder to “frontaccounting.”
Now, click on the search bar of Windows and type “Xampp Control Panel” and press the “Enter” button. This will launch the Xampp app on your PC. There, you will see the five modules, Apache, MySQL, FileZilla, Mercury, and Tomcat. By default, all these modules are stopped. You have to turn ON the first two modules, Apache and MySQL. After that, launch your web browser and type Http://localhost/frontaccounting in the address bar of the browser. You will see the installation wizard on your web browser. If not, click on the “frontaccounting” folder, then you will be redirected to the installation wizard.
Now, you have to install the software on the server. Click on the “Continue” button. After that, you have to set a password. Enter “frontacc” as username and set your own password. Now, in the next step, you have to enter your username, admin login name, and admin password. Write your company name and use “admin” as the admin name. Enter here the same password that you entered in the previous step. When installation gets completed, you have to delete the install folder from the frontaccounting folder located in the htdocs folder.
Whenever you want to run the software, first, you have to run Xampp and then, type Http://localhost/frontaccounting in the address bar of the browser. You should have an active internet connection. Enter the username and password to log in. The software has a very user-friendly interface that lets you manage logistics easily. We are listing here an overview of different tabs that the software has:
- Sales: Here, you can manage the sales of your organization. You can add new customers, sales, groups, recurrent invoices, sales types, etc., in the “Maintenance” section. Besides this, you can also view and manage transactions and sales reports.

The installation process takes time, so be patient. The installation time depends on the processing speed of your PC. The software does not create a shortcut file, as it is a web-based application. Please note down the username and password displayed by the software just after the completion of the installation process.
Now, run Xampp and start the first two modules, Apache and MySQL. Now, launch your web browser and write HTTP://localhost:8024 in the address bar of the browser and hit the “Enter” button. You should be connected to the internet. Enter the username and password that you have noted. If you forgot to note the username and password, you can try “admindb” as username and “NtiAdmindb” as the password. Please launch this software in Google Chrome, as the default language of the software is German. Google Chrome will show you the translate to English option by default. You can change the default password after login.
If the language of the software is still German, right-click anywhere on the page and select the “Translate to English” option. Various logistics management options are available on the left panel of the software. The “Contacts” option lets you enter a company’s and a person’s contact information. If you want to add new products, click on the “Orders” button on the left panel. The “Shipment” section of the software lets you prepare delivery notes, invoices, etc. You can also manage the products in the “Materials Management” section. In the “Orders” tab, you can add new customers, suppliers, and carriers. Apart from the general customer information, you can add many things to the customers’ profiles, like shipping details, transaction history, credit card details, etc. The software also lets you add notes to customers’ and suppliers’ profiles. You can give a unique code to each order, which makes it easy to find. To each order, you can add customers’ billing information, dates, charges and routes of the order, container information of the order, etc. Apart from this, you can also set the status of each order to open, received, canceled, and none.
