Some users have faced this issue that when after opening the Sticky Notes app, the app doesn’t show or load the Sticky Notes list that contains all the notes stored by users. It just stuck there and closing and re-opening the app doesn’t help. If after launching Sticky Notes, you also see it stuck on the Loading Sticky Notes screen, then this post might come in handy.
Sticky Notes stuck on Loading Sticky Notes
Here are some options that might fix this Loading Sticky Notes issue:
- Use the Notes list option
- Update Sticky Notes
- Run Windows Store Apps troubleshooter
- Use Web Portal of Sticky Notes
- Reset Sticky Notes.
1] Use the Notes list option
This fix is shared by one of the Sticky Notes team members and has helped many users. Here is what you need to do:
- Right-click on the Sticky Notes icon visible on the Taskbar
- Click on the Notes list option.
This should load the Sticky Notes list and you will be able to access all the stored notes.
2] Update Sticky Notes
Sometimes, a problem is with the outdated version of an app. So, updating that app is a good choice. The same might work when Sticky Notes stuck on the Loading Sticky Notes screen. So, you just need to simply update the Sticky Notes app and then check if the problem is solved. The steps are:
- Open Microsoft Store app
- Click on the See more icon (three horizontal dots) present on the top right corner
- Select Downloads and Updates.
Check if there is some update available to download for Sticky Notes. If yes, click on the download icon available for Sticky Notes. Once the download is completed, it will install the update automatically.
After installing the latest version of the Sticky Notes app, restart your PC, and see if the issue is solved.
Though Windows 10 is set to automatically update installed apps by default, some users like to turn off automatic updates for Microsoft Store apps, and therefore this manual installation process is needed.
If the automatic update for apps is already turned on on your PC, then you don’t have to follow the manual process.
3] Run Windows Store Apps troubleshooter
If apps are not working correctly, then the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter of Windows 10 can come in handy. And, it might work to fix the loading Sticky Notes problem also. The troubleshooter checks the problems that are preventing apps from working properly and then provides the solutions. These are the steps:
- Press Win+I hotkey to open the Settings app of Windows 10
- Access Update & Security category
- Access Troubleshooter page
- Use Additional troubleshooters option present on the right-hand section
- Scroll down the page
- Access Windows Store Apps option
- Use Run the troubleshooter.
It will begin the diagnosis process and give you the solutions (if any).
4] Use Web Portal of Sticky Notes
If the desktop app of Sticky Notes is still not opening and you need to access your notes on an urgent basis, then you can use the Web Portal of Sticky Notes. Since Sticky Notes uses a Microsoft account, so all your notes are synced and stored in that account.
Therefore, once you open the Web Portal of Sticky Notes and sign in with the same Microsoft account that you use for its desktop app, you will see that all the notes are visible there.
5] Reset Sticky Notes
If some app doesn’t work as it should do, then resetting that app helps the users to use it again properly. This might work for this Loading Sticky Notes problem. Though all the data of the Sticky Notes app will be deleted, you don’t need to worry. All your notes will come back again once you’ll sign in with the same account of your Sticky Notes app. Follow these steps:
- Press Win+I to open Settings
- Access Apps category
- Scroll down Apps & features page on the right-hand section
- Click on the Sticky Notes app
- Select Advanced options
- Scroll down the page
- Press Reset button
- Confirm your action by again pressing the Reset button.
