The Start menu can reset itself after each restart due to third-party applications installed on your device. Performing a clean boot will restart your PC by restricting all third-party applications. Here’s how you can clean boot your PC:
- Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type msconfig and hit Enter.
- Select the options Selective Startup and Load System Services.
- Navigate to the Services tab and check the option Hide all Microsoft services.
- Now click on Disable all and hit Apply, then OK to save changes.
- Restart your computer.
If the game/software runs smoothly in Clean Boot State, then you may need to manually enable one process after the other and see which is the offender that creates problems for you. Once you have identified it, you need to disable it or uninstall the software that uses this culprit process.
