Are you unable to see the contacts and use other features due to your Contact not showing in Teams? Microsoft Teams is a business communication platform for real-time video meetings, messaging, file sharing, and more. However, some users reported experiencing issues while trying to find contacts in Teams. In this article, we will list all the working fixes that come in handy when Microsoft Teams is not showing all contacts.
Microsoft Teams not showing all Contacts
If Microsoft Teams is not showing all the contacts, execute the solutions mentioned below to eliminate this problem.
- Import the contacts again
- Disable Scope directory search
- Clean the Team’s cache
- Remove the Team’s settings file
- Update Teams
- Repair or Reset Teams
- Reinstall Teams again
Let’s get started.
1] Import the contacts again
First, make sure that Outlook contacts are synced with Teams otherwise, this problem is a must. However, if it is already synced, yet the contacts are not showing, then import them again. To do the same, follow the below steps.
- Launch Outlook, go to the Home tab, and click on the Address book option.
- Click on the account that you are using currently, and then on the Select All option.
- At last, go to the File tab, and then select Add to contacts option.
Wait for the contacts to sync, and hopefully, contacts will be showing in Teams.
2] Disable Scope directory search
If contacts are not visible on the screen, ask your admin to disable the Scope directory search. Scoped search option is the feature that helps the admin narrow down the search results; however, this feature may create this issue, therefore, contact the admin, and ask them to disable it. Once disabled, see if the issue persists or not.
3] Clean the Team’s cache
Microsoft Teams stores cache for temporary data like any other app and other items that help the app fetch data more efficiently. However, if it gets corrupted, the contacts may not show in Teams. If that is the case, we are going to remove the corrupted Teams cache and follow the steps prescribed below to do the same:
- Hit Win+E to open File Explorer.
- Now, navigate to the following location in File Explorer
- After that, in the opened location, delete all files in tmp folder, blob_storage, cache, GPU cache, databases, and local storage folders.
- Next, open the IndexedDB folder and delete the .db file.
Finally, restart the PC and look up the issue.
4] Remove the Team’s settings files
A lot of time, files that contain settings data get corrupted, which ultimately causes such kind of issues. However, this scenario is easily fixable by deleting the Team’s settings files, and here’s how to do the same:
Note: Since the Team’s local file is hidden, we will first unhide it and then delete it.
- Click Win + R to open the Run dialog box and then type the following and hit the Enter button:
- In the View tab, go to the Hidden files and folders option, and then check the box next to the Show hidden files, folders, and drivers option.
- Now, select Apply and Ok Button.
- Open Explorer, and search the following path
- Search and right-click on the settings.json folder and select the Delete option.
After deleting the JSON file, restart your computer, and if possible, reboot your computer and then see if the issue is resolved.
5] Update Teams
The issue can be due to bugs in the installation or an outdated version of MS Teams. And if it is the latter, then there are high chances of running into not only this error but many more. In such cases, update the app to its recent version as new updates address bugs and issues like this.
To update Microsoft Teams app, click on the Settings and more button that is present beside the profile picture. Now, press the Check for updates option to let the app download and install available updates. Now restart the app and see if the contact is visible or not.
7] Repair or Reset Teams
It is very likely that some of the files of Teams are corrupted. It is not unusual for an app file to get corrupted and for the app to display unorthodoxy. In order to remedy this situation, we can go to Windows Settings and try to repair the app. Follow the steps mentioned below to repair Microsoft Teams.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Apps > Installed apps or Apps & features.
- Search for Microsoft Teams.
- Windows 11: Click on the three vertical dots and select Advanced Options.
- Windows 10: Select the app and click on Advanced Options.
- Click on the Repair button.
You need to wait for some time as Windows repair the app in question. Once the process is completed, check if the issue is resolved. In case, the issue persists, go to the same panel, but this time, click on Reset. This will reset your settings to default.
8] Reinstall Teams again
If the contacts are still not showing after doing the solutions mentioned above, we recommend you install the app freshly as this can solve all the issues related to the app.
To do the same, type Teams into the search bar and then right-click on Teams and select the Uninstall option. The other way is to open Settings, On the Settings interface, click on Apps from the left pane and then select Apps and features or Installed apps. Click the dots beside Microsoft Teams and select the Uninstall button.
Hopefully, you will be able to resolve the issue using these solutions.

Why is my contact information not updating in Teams?
Due to corruption in cache data that store information related to contact numbers and people, problems such as contact not showing or information related to it not updating can plague our screens. In such cases, closing the Teams app properly and then restarting it can clear out this cache, otherwise, steps to manually delete the cache are mentioned above. We also recommend refreshing the contact status in Teams, so go to the Teams profile, in the Status tab, select the Reset status option.
Why do Teams not show all participants?
A lot of users were confused as to why only a few participants are showing in the Team meeting. This is because Team has a default setting of Gallery Layout in which a 2*2 or 3*3 guide will be displayed. To change this situation, we can select the Large Gallery option. To do the same, click on the More actions (mobile users) / Change View (desktop user) option, and then select the Large Gallery option.
