To back up your data, you need to download the Samsung Smart Switch app on both devices. If you’re an Android user, then you can download this app from Google Play Store. Mac users can download this app from the App Store. Windows users can download the Samsung Smart Switch app from their official website.
Backup data from Phone to PC with Samsung Smart Switch
Samsung Smart Switch lets you backup your data from your phone to your PC. Once you back up your phone data on your PC, the files will automatically be stored in the default location, which is OneDrive.
Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable, and then tap Allow on your phone. Open the Smart Switch application on your computer. It will show you two options.
You can backup and restore the following data from your Smartphone to your PC:
- Messages
- Call and contacts
- Home screen
- Settings
- Apps
- Images, Videos, Audio, Documents, and files
1] Messages
To back up your messages, select the Messages option from the left side. After that, it will show you different choices to back up your messages. For example, last 2 years, last 12 years, last 6 months, etc. Select any of these options to back up your messages as per your requirements. Then click on Backup.
2] Calls and contacts
To back up all your Calls and contacts, select the respective option from the left side. It will show you an option for selecting the contact file format. Select the desired option and click on Backup. Your all contacts will be saved on your computer at the default location.
3] Home screen
You can also back up your Default wallpapers, Galaxy Themes wallpapers, and live wallpapers as well. To backup your Home screen select the respective option from the left side
4] Settings
Samsung Smart Switch also lets you back up all your settings from your Smartphone to your PC. You can backup your phone settings, app settings, Wi-Fi settings, Bluetooth settings, and more.
5] Apps
You can also backup all your apps to your PC using this software. This feature is helpful to restore all your apps after performing a Factory Reset on your phone. If you want to back up only some specific apps, you can manually select them. When you are done, click Backup.
6] Images, Videos, Audio, Documents, and files
If you want to backup your images, videos, audio files, and other documents, select the respective option, then select the files manually. By default, all files are selected for backup. It also shows you the folders containing your files. You can back up a particular folder by selecting it.
When Samsung Smart Switch is performing the backup task, please do not remove the USB cable, as it may corrupt the backed-up data.
How to restore data with Samsung Smart Switch
To restore your data on your smartphone, connect it to the computer by using a USB cable, then open the application on your PC. Now, click on the Restore button. On the left side, you will see the names of all your smartphones along with the date and time on which the backup was created. Select your device accordingly and then select what you want to restore. When you are done, click Restore.
Do not interrupt the process. The time taken to restore your data will depend on the size of your data.
