A digital video recording of your computer screen with a voice-over narration is called a Screencast. While making a screencast requires a microphone and some video capturing software, not many people know that you can make a screencast using your YouTube account. Yes, that’s true! You can record your desktop screen using YouTube without having any video recording software.
Record a Screencast video with YouTube
You have to create an event while making a screencast. Go to YouTube and sign in using your Google Account. Hit on the Upload button on the top right corner and click on Live Streaming option on the right panel. 
Click on Events on the left panel of the page. If you haven’t yet created any event on YouTube, you will see the page below. Click on the New Live Event button on the right.
This will take you to the Create Event page.
Fill in the basic details like Title, Description, Tags and click on ‘Go Live Now’ button. Do not forget to adjust the privacy settings and see if you want your video to be private, public, or unlisted. It is recommended to record the screencast in the private or unlisted mode so that nobody can watch it while it is being recorded.
Click on the Screenshare button in the left panel. A pop-up window will display all windows open on your desktop screen. Select a screen you want to record and click on Broadcast.
Click on Stop Broadcast button when you are done with the recording. 
That’s it!
Your screencast is recorded on YouTube.
To share it with someone, click on Share button. 
While recording the screencast, you can turn off the Microphone if you don’t want to record the voice-over.
Recording a screencast with YouTube is simple and quick. The best part is that you can do it without video recording software. Your screencasts are saved on your YouTube account and can be downloaded to your Google Drive and shared with anyone.

This sounds like a good option for devices which can’t run OBS and all its dependencies, or which can’t accomodate other third-party screencast apps needing large disk space for recordings. Cheers!

I don’t know YouTube can record computer screen, In my mind, it’s just a website for videos, thanks for sharing the experience. I used to make screencast with acethinker free screen recorder, works quite well. It is a web-based tool that lets you record your screen right from your browser. Share it here as an alternative to YouTube.
