Xbox Live titles announced for Windows Phone 7 launch

Most of us were expecting a lot of things from Microsoft at Gamescom 2o10, which is one of the biggest consumer games showcase; & Microsoft didn’t disappoint the people this time around. In fact they have just released their plans for the launch of titles for the Xbox Live,  for the Windows Phone 7.

At Gamescom 2010 Microsoft announced as many as 50 titles for the upcoming Windows Phone 7 which will be available at the launch or  just a bit later. The first wave of launch portfolio titles includes Xbox LIVE games from the likes of Gameloft, Konami Digital Entertainment, Namco Bandai, PopCap and THQ.

Kevin Unangst, senior director of PC and mobile said, “We’re really approaching this as we would a console, so we have to deliver the breadth of games and the quality people expect from Xbox,”.“To have this quantity and quality of games committed this far ahead of launch, with even more to come, is a statement of support that says Windows Phone 7 will be a big success”.

Some of the Major Titles Include:

  • “Halo Waypoint” (MGS)
  • “Guitar Hero 5” (Glu Mobile)
  • “Assassins Creed” (Gameloft)
  • “Asphalt 5” (Gameloft)
  • “Bejeweled™ LIVE” (PopCap)
  • “Castlevania” (Konami Digital Entertainment)
  • “Crackdown 2: Project Sunburst” (MGS)

And if you thought that is it, well they are not stopping here. Additional titles in the launch portfolio will be released between now and the Windows Phone 7 launch, this holiday season. So  we can expect some more major titles coming to the Windows Phone 7 Games list.

With some of the biggies like Gameloft, THQ and others joining the Windows Phone 7 launch for the Games it’s going great guns for Microsoft. With this kind of a mega launch, the competitors like iPhone and the Android platform might have to pull something big to  keep it up with the  ever growing mobile marketplace.
