Now they are charging for the upgrade with a purchase of a new pc? A few years back when I purchased my system the upgrade from Vista to 7 was free with a purchase of a new pc.

Microsoft is really becomming annoying these days with their marketing ploys, or is it they do not see real big sales for Windows 8 coming down the road?

  2. Redhat Linux!

Microsoft – what a LOL. My company is tossing all of the costly windows junk and going the Linux route for servers AND desktops. Microsoft solutions are just too expensive and completely unreliable. The Microsoft OS patching model causes too many unnecessary outages because of reboot. I think you’ll see more and more of that in the future; the TCO is just not there anymore.

Oh yeah, I love it when I use Firefox and when I go to a site developed with Microsoft .JUNK. In one case, the site asks me if I want to ‘upgrade’ to IE. Really? Upgrade to IE? Wow… how arrogant is that? Yeah, that will happen… so long M$; I spent the last dollar on you. Let’s see how stable Win8 is after their RTM releases.

The upgrade from Vista to 7 was free because Vista sucked and they knew it. 7 does NOT suck, so expecting a free upgrade just goes to show a typical entitlement mentality.

They can take their entitlement and stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.

No one has a gun to your head. There are alternative operating systems that you’re welcome to try.
