Fix: Weather App Creates Too Many Error Events

Windows Store Apps are the central charm of Windows 8. One such app is the Weather app and after the use of this app, we observed strange things on our Windows 8.1 Pro. Actually, when you use the Weather app, it creates too many error events if you minutely observe the activities of system. A detailed information could be obtained for these errors from the same Event Viewer window.

It may be possible that you can came around this issue because the services required for the efficient working of Weather app are dependent upon location. However, you can fix this issue by re-installing the Weather app. But in case, if you’re not able to manage the issue by re-installation, you can try following fix referenced from Answers:

1. Press Windows Key + R combination, type put Regedt32.exe in Run dialog box and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.

3. In the left pane of this location, took the ownership of {c2f03a33-21f5-47fa-b4bb-156362a2f239} key first. Then do a right click over it, select Permissions.

4. In the above shown window, grant the Full Control for the Administrators group as shown in above screenshot. Click Apply followed by OK. After this, take the ownership and grant full control for this key as well:


5. Moving on, Press Windows Key + R combination, type put comexp.msc in Run dialog box and hit Enter to open the Component Services. In the left pane, expand Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer. From the middle pane, select DCOM Config.

6. Now look for the Immersive Shell service in the same middle pane and do a right click on it, select Properties.

7. In the Immersive Shell Properties window, under the hood of Launch and Activation Permissions, select Customize and hit Edit.

8. Click Add in the following window:

9. In the following window, type local service and click Check Names, then click OK.

10. Thus we’ve added Local Service, now put the check mark on Local Activation. Finally click OK.

At last, you need to do a reboot and the issue should be fixed by now.
