Windows 11/10/8 brought us the concept of Modern UI Apps due to which we can use the webcam on our system using the Camera app – and thus we don’t need to install additional software. This Camera app is quite similar to the same app in Windows Phone. Both of these save pictures in the Camera Roll folder under Pictures library. But in some scenarios, we have come around the issue, when the app couldn’t detect Camera Roll folder or can’t save the snapped pictures to these folders. Here is the error one may receive in this situation:
We can’t get to the camera roll right now. Something went wrong while accessing the camera roll.
As you can see in the image above, there is no help or support link here to tell us how to solve this problem. This is the most awkward thing about Modern Apps that they do not provide support links with the error they throw. Anyway, you can try these steps to solve this problem:
We Can’t Get To The Camera Roll Right Now
1. Press Windows Key + R combination, type put regedit in Run dialog box and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
2. Navigate here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folder
3. In the right pane of this location, right-click in the blank space and select New -> Expandable String Value. Name this new string as {AB5FB87B-7CE2-4F83-915D-550846C9537B}. Now double click on this string to modify its Value data:
4. In the Edit String box, put the Value data as %USERPROFILE%\Pictures\Camera Roll.
Now close the Registry Editor after this and reboot the machine to make changes effective. After restarting the system, the problem should be fixed.
Trust this helps!
