Screen captures are important for blogging. Many of you must be using Windows Live Writer for blogging and TechSmith’s Snagit Screen Capture Utility and using its various options for editing the images. There is a plugin that integrates SnagIt into Windows Live Writer, thus making it easier to capture, edit and embed images from within Windows Live Writer. The West Wind SnagIt Screen Capture Plugin for Live Writer has been recently updated to v1.1 and made available as a free download.

When installed it shows up in the Plugin list in Windows Live Writer.
Once you select this plugin, it provides the capture option and other useful SnagIt capture options. One of my favorites is the one shown above. The torn edge effect.
After capturing the image, you can click on the Finish button to embed the image in the post. It’s so simple! It also gives you a choice to save images locally or not.
The plugin requires Microsoft.NET Runtime 2.0 or later, and SnagIt 7.0 or later. The plugin is free and comes with C# source code, so if you are a developer, you can customize the tool.
SnagIt Screen Capture Plugin is definitely a useful and a powerful solution for anyone who regularly updates his blog using Windows Live Writer. Capturing, editing, inserting and saving images becomes a cake-walk!
You can download it from its home page (Not available anymore: Updated Aug 31, 2018).
