Search Google Docs and Sites inside Gmail with Apps Search

Google Docs is one of the most useful web app from Google. You can create documents, real time editing, share with anyone, etc. Now Gmail lets you search Google docs and sites with in its Gmail interface. I’m not sure how many are aware of Gmail Labs. Yes, Gmail has Labs where all interesting add-ons are featured on Gmail Labs.

Searching Google Docs and Sites inside Gmail is made easy using a Labs feature named “Apps Search“. App search feature lets you to extend search with Google Docs and Sites results. Apps Search will find the most relevant Docs and Sites and show them below Gmail search results. If required, you can also simply disable it from the Labs section.

This is a big time-saver when you don’t remember where the information you’re looking for is saved. If you’re looking for how to activate this feature, then here you go.

First log in to your Gmail account, then click on the settings link at the top right side of your page. Once it is done, you can lot of tabs, choose the Labs tab from it and Enable the Apps Search feature and Click save settings.

Now you can see a button “Search Mail & Docs” next to the search box. So whatever docs you need to find, you can simply enter into the search box and hit the button. It will display all the relevant searches first from your mail box then below you can see from your Google docs, you can hide the search results from the mail box just by a click.
