Thank you for these instructions. I would never have worked out how to rename the task without deleting it and recreating it from scratch.

Since you're going to rename the task when you import it, there will be no conflict between old and new, so why not run the sequence:
1. Export
2. Import under a new name
3. Delete original

This way, you won't lose the original should the import fail for any reason. I excel at generating failures...

It's also worth pointing out that the imported task will show "Last Run Result" as 0x41303 (SCHED_S_TASK_HAS_NOT_RUN) until it runs. 0x41303 just means that the task has not YET/EVER run.

I have a GK-Chain Gatekeeper, which unlocks my desktop when my key gets close enough to a USB dongle in my PC. I use a scheduled task to detect this, and resume power to my display. But sometimes I get the Desktop Unlock "jingle", but for whatever reason the desktop doesn't unlock. Nor does the scheduled task run. Having any non-zero Result in my scheduled task raises my hopes that I might find why the task didn't run...

Good post. I have had to delete & re-create a task many times. This will certainly save me time.
Mind you: I have not tried this out but assume it will work as described above. Thanks for sharing!
