When Surface updates are provided via the Windows Update service, they are delivered in stages. As a result, the delivery of the updates will be staggered. While updating your Surface device it is best to plug in to a power outlet and stay connected to the Internet. If you have a Surface Typing Cover or Surface docking station, make sure they’re attached before you turn on your Surface so they get the latest updates, too.
