Microsoft Security Essentials is now being made available in 17 additional markets, including India.
Microsoft Security Essentials, the free anti-virus offering from Microsoft, will now thus also be available in Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, India, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates.
This brings the total number of markets where Microsoft Security Essentials is available to 56.
Microsoft Security Essentials will also be available in 2 new languages viz Russian and Romanian, bringing the total to 11 languages.
In Windows 8, Windows Defender is actually Microsoft Security Essentials. Those who have installed Windows 8 may have noticed that Microsoft has rechristened Microsoft Security Essentials as Windows Defender. In its earlier iterations, while the former offered anti-virus protection, the latter gave anti-spyware protection. In Windows 8, Microsoft has decided to combine both these protections in one program and call it Windows Defender.
