iOS 5 upgrade provides for a separate Hotmail option now!

If you have updated your iOS devices with the recent upgrade to iOS 5, you will notice that the iOS 5 Mail now provides a separate Hotmail option. Among the so many new features provided in iOS 5, this new feature does not get the mention though.

While one could always earlier use the Microsoft Exchange option to configure Hotmail related mails, this new option provides more clarity for a common Hotmail based mail user and is much easier to configure.

Configure Hotmail using iOS 5 Mail.

Let us see how to configure Hotmail.

Open Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account.

Select Windows Live Hotmail and enter your Email ID and password. Provide a suitable description. Click Next.

It will verify the account and provide you with different categories – Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders to be Synced or not. Save it.

That’s all!

This option incidentally, makes use of ActiveSync.
