Second of all, where are the “Install” prompts for all of Google’s own services? Play Music? GMail? These have all gotten PWA-friendly Material Re-Designs, but none of them offer “installation” where I really want native notifications for those things without goofy 3rd party half-baked apps?

These devs of these PWAs need to embed higher res icons if I’m to use these in Windows and not just as Favicon thumbnails in favorites… And the real icons for the app too! Google Play Music and others just dont look good as pinned apps.

That brings me to another thing – These apps need to embed into Windows 10 as app shortcuts that can be ‘pinned’ to the Start menu… Without just bearing the Chrome Icon!!! This is infuriating – We already had this functionality in old Chrome to pin chrome shortcuts… PWAs need to have Start Menu-friendly icons too!

This is so seamless on ChromeOS – Just “create shortcut” and you have a native app. Why is it so hard on Windows? Is Microsoft getting in the way? If they’re going to obstruct the success of this, they need to produce an alternative in Edge and I’ll gladly grab these services from their browser engine instead… Where’s that functionality? I was promised it 18 months ago…

Until this is resolved the app issues on Desktop PCs will continue to be a problem.
