Next I want to say that you will always have to load each thumbnail the first time in Explorer. After that then they are already there when you open folder. But Windows 10 is auto deleting your thumbnails in cache after the size of about 500MB to 700MB in size. I have read 100 ways to increaser cache and how to stop the thumbnail cache from being deleted. It is all wrong and nonsense. I have however discovered how to stop Windows 10 from deleting them. Now my cache is at 1.69GB and stays there or grows. There is no limit below 8GB on Windows cache size.

For example I have an external HDD and every time I open photos folder it loads thumbnails very slowly, will this speed up thumbnail loading if the icon cache is stored on a system drive which is SSD?
