Helge’s Switchblade – A Portable toolkit for IT Professionals

Helge’s Switchblade is a portable utility meant mainly for IT professionals and System administrators. It comes packed with a good collection of application. As IT Pros we often carry a USB with essential applications to use on a client site. When there are many applications, it’s hard to find the one’s we want. Well, using this application it becomes much easier, because it’s organized in a nice manner. You don’t have to download the application separately –  it is all packed into one single file.

There is a collection of System Tools, Security Tools, Networking Tools and a few other utilities – and comes with some useful links too. It includes tools like Windows Log Grabber, RAM & IP Info Viewer, Ipconfig Tools, Revo, Driver Backup Tool, Process Monitor, Sumo Software Updater, etc. A chat option, to chat with other Switchblade users right from the application, is also available. For now there are few users, so you won’t find a lot of activity.

Lets go through each tab to know what are the different applications available.

In System Tool there are a couple of applications like Revo Uninstaller, Process Hacker, AppCrashView etc. I’m adding a screenshot for the rest of the utilities that are available.

Under Networking there are only few collections, but there are some useful commands like FlushDNS, Review IP etc.

The last is “Other” tab. Here you’ll find some useful link like Nvidia Drivers, AT Drivers, Windows Error code and Log grabber.

In short it’s a great little application which is very useful for IT Pros, but I see lots of potential. I won’t mind seeing SysInternal Suite, NirSoft Suite built into Switchblade,  because most of them use those applications a lot.

So if your interested visit their website to download the application, You can also drop a comment to the developer, if you want to add any new application to this list.

I hope you find this utility useful. I did!

It looks good but I prefer GEGeek’s Tech Toolkit over at gegeek.com. It has many more utilities included, all portable and it too is free!

The program is still in its infancy, and I am looking for tools to add.
Got any suggestions just drop me an email at contact@helgesverre.com
