Google Earth (since 1 year) requires you to use Chrome. Old version for desktop still available here: https://www.google.com/earth/desktop/

Google Earth pro stopped working for me as well, I also tried everything Simon Danielsen discussed, but the funny thing is, Google Earth web will not load either, I really liked it and the various pictures of my old growth forest over time, this sucks!

Google Earth Pro is indispensible to my work, I have it open all day, but it can be incredibly unreliable and apparently random.
Yesterday, it suddenly began crashing whenever I added a placemark. I have deleted the cache, physically deleted all of the My Places files, uninstalled and reinstalled the program, tried installing an older version of GE, restarted my computer several times, drastically cut the size of the KMZ files I was using (they are generally placemarks created in the field with photographs and notes attached), all to no avail - it still crashes whenever I add a placemark (but not a line or a polygon) AND I have certain KMZ files open (KMZs I created in the field with photos and notes attached) that were created in Avenza Maps in the last month (files created in Avenza Maps from more than a month ago don't cause it to crash when a placemark is added). These KMZ files are from 10-18 MB in size.
I know Avenza updated their software recently, but they take no responsibility for what happens in GE.
AND, I have been using these KMZs for a month so far with no problem - the problem started suddenly yesterday.
I also updated my graphics drivers on my computer.
It seems I have to close those files to create a placemark, then open them afterwards.
I can use the exact same KMZ files in GE on my laptop, which uses the same version of Windows 10, without this problem occurring.
Any idea what I can do? I can work around it, but it is very frustrating!
