Evalaze: Virtualize your Windows applications

Evalaze is a free but powerful software virtualization application that allows a user to flexibly run a virtual application. The program creates a different virtual environment so that the virtual applications do not affect the working of Windows and other programs. The application allows you to run different versions of an application on the same system. There are three different versions of this software available, namely Free, Professional and Commercial. In this article we may talk about features of free edition.

When you run the application for the first time, it scans your system completely and optimize itself for the best performance. The virtual platform created by the software is  flexible, fast and fluid. Here are some features of virtualization:

  • Fast, Powerful and strong platform.
  • No need to install the applications in traditional way
  • Protects Registry errors and system crashes
  • Allows to run older versions of applications on modern systems
  • The applications can be run locally on a PC, on network drives, on terminal servers or on USB sticks
  • Allows you to run potentially harmful software virtually without affecting the functioning of the PC.

Evalaze supports both 32 and 64 bit platforms of operating systems like Windows XP (SP2), Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 as well as with servers running Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2008. The software assistant will guide you at every step of the software.

There are two virtual modes available in the program, which are Read mode and Merge mode. In Read mode the virtual application interacts with the system only for reading the contents and configuration but in Merge Mode it can completely read or write on the actual system. It is recommended to use virtual applications in Read mode.

Evalaze has a nice and easy to use interface with a software assistant guide that tells you how to use the software. No geeky steps, no technical configurations just easy to use steps. With this software, Virtualization has been greatly simplified. Now you can run the application safely – and fast. It makes your task quite easy.

  1. Evalaze is actually more of a portable-izer than it is a virtualizer. It’s really a misuse of terminology to call it a virtualizer, per se. I realize that the product’s website calls it an app virtualizer, but it’s a German site, and I feel strongly that the terminology is getting lost in translation.

Seriously, it’s not a virtualizer. Rather, it makes it so that an entire installed app is packaged into an executable that may then be run either from a hard drive or, more ideally, from a flash/thumb drive/stick… portably. And so, then, it’s really a portablizer… if that’s even a word. It’s an app which makes any installed app portable…

…through by a means different from, for example, the sometimes technologically-troubled and -challenged “Portable Apps” method.

Evalaze’s direct competitors are such as JauntPE or Cameyo… the latter of which is probably better; and others, some of whom also technically-incorrectly call themselves virtualizers. But they’re not. They simply make an app so that it’s portable… made into a single executable, and can be run from either a hard drive, or a USB flash drive, or, theoretically, even a CD or DVD, without installation.

A true virtualizer is, technicallly, something else.

Still, apps like Evalze are cool, and, indeed, can make an app so it’ll run entirely portably… and by a non-Portable-Apps means.

It’s important to know, though, that it’s buggy… no matter which Evalaze-type tool one uses, there are just certain apps that won’t be portablized. So it’s imperfect.

However, whatever are the differences between the various apps can make the difference. Sometimes one app will fail to make something properly portable, and another will do it just fine. So it pays to be familiar with several.

    Hope that helps.
