I don't have this feature at all under power options. I followed the instructions directly and it doesn't seem to be an option. My computer just started brightening on it's own a few months ago and I have no way to stop it. Could one of my apps be causing this?

"Adaptive brightness is only available in Ultimate, Professional and Enterprise editions of Windows 7 and on select laptop or desktop models."

Then, why does my Laptop (Home Premium) randomly brighten and/or dim on me? I had assumed it was adaptive brightness and have been searching in vain for a way to turn off this awful "feature."

Not gonna lie. This feature sucks. Driving in the car at night my tablet screen was flashing like crazy, every time we passed a street light the screen nearly blinded me and then went too dim to see. Thanks for showing me how to disable this feature which was obviously meant for office and home use.

Oh right, and this is on the Windows 8 Developer Preview if anyone was wondering, which is still free :)
