Cortana not available on Windows 10

All of us are eager to try out Cortana, the digital assistant in Windows 10. But did you get theĀ Cortana isn’t supported in the region and language you’ve selected message, when you tried to use it? If after upgrading to Windows 10, you find that Cortana is not available in your region, then this post can help you get Cortana on your Windows 10 PC.

First make sure that you Windows 10 is up-to-date. Especially make sure that you have installed the Cumulative Update KB3081424.

To be able to use Cortana, all these settings must be set to the same language:

  1. Device Language
  2. Speech language
  3. Country or region.

If you find that you set up Cortana correctly and it is still not available, then check if it is available in your country. Currently, Cortana is only available in the following markets, countries or regions:

  1. China
  2. France
  3. Germany
  4. Italy
  5. Spain
  6. United Kingdom
  7. United States.

You will also have to ensure that the desired Language is installed, in order to make Cortana speak in your language. Cortana is currently available in the following languages:

  1. Chinese (Simplified)
  2. English (U.K.)
  3. English (U.S.)
  4. French
  5. Italian
  6. German
  7. Spanish.

If Cortana is not available in your country and you still want to use it, do the following:

Open Settings app > Time and Language settings.

Now do the following:

Change your Region to United States: Settings > Time & Language > Region & Language. Set United States as the Country or region.

Use English (US) as the primary language: In the same window, ensure that English (United States) is set as the Default language.

Set Cortana language: In the left panel, select Speech and ensure that Speech-language is also set to English (United States).
