Read speed is the rate at which data is transferred from a disc to a computer. Write speed is the rate at which data can be written to a disc. The higher your speeds the faster is your data transfers. There may be times when you may want to find out the Read and Write speeds of you Hard Drive, CD-ROM, or Network Servers. To do this, you can take help of this very useful freeware called Parkdale.
Test Read and Write Speeds
Parkdale is free tool to measure and test Read and Write Speed of Hard Drive, CD-ROM, Network Servers, etc. Simply select the drive and click on Start to run the test. The transfer rate is displayed in KB or MB per second. You can also adjust the blocksize used to access the disk.
The program has two different modes:
- BlockAccess – The test data is read from/written onto the disk directly without using the filesystem.
- FileAccess – The test data is read from/written into a normal file using the filesystem.
Several command line options are also available. All options are shown if the program is started with ‘-?’.
