Whether you like it or not, Facebook rolled out a feature – Read Receipts sometime ago, which showed all your friends when you had read their Facebook chat messages, by displaying a Seen By message. The feature prevented you from ignoring their messages and forced you to reply.
While it helped the senders in knowing whether the person to whom they have sent the message had read it and was responding in good time or not, it frustrated recipients more, who happened to be on the other side of the fence. At times, they did not want to show that they had read the message. To solve this, a company by the name CrossRider had come up with a unique solution – a browser plug-in called Chat Undetected.
Chat Undetected – Facebook
Chat Undetected is a recently developed browser extension which helps you escape unnoticed from the read receipt feature of Facebook, while still being online. It prevents your views of Facebook Chat messages to be marked as “seen” even if you have viewed them.
To get this working, you simply need to go to the Chat Undetected download page and download the extension. You will notice “Get Chat Undetected” button on the top of the page.
Click the button to download the executable file. It will ask your permission to install the extension in the browser. Grant the permission and run the .exe file. Then, agree to the terms and conditions and wait patiently to allow the application to be installed. When advised to close your browser and restart, do so to allow the changes to take effect.
Once you have installed the plugin, you will get a thank-you message from the developer for installing the application. You can now put your mind at ease and work or chat freely without having to worry about responding to messages immediately.
Now, you should find the Read Receipt feature being completely blocked from your Facebook profile, once you login.
Chat Undetected is a quick install and works on Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox and Safari. I installed the app in my Chrome browser and it worked just fine.
