Do you own an Android phone ? Then you can build your own android apps now. Google now offers a free software tool to write applications for Android phones, making it into a rather easy task. The Google Labs program App Inventor for Android is designed for Windows operating system, Apple Mac OS X and Linux.

App Inventor for Android is a simple free tool from Google Labs, with which you can easily create your Android applications, just by drag n drop buttons, text, color, naming properties, sounds it etc. You don’t need any programming skills.

To use App Inventor, you do not need to be a developer. App Inventor requires NO programming knowledge. This is because instead of writing code, you visually design the way the app looks and use blocks to specify the application’s behavior.

App Inventor can even store data created by users in a database (quiz app). It also has access to a GPS-location sensor (find out where you are and shows location of friends etc) and you can also use the phone features to write apps, if you know how to write web apps.  You can use App Inventor to write Android apps that talk to your favorite web sites, such as Amazon and Twitter too!

  1. Good to know that creating a phone app can be so simple! My perfect app would be something to organize my personal and business life—a planning database with to do lists and business contacts. Do you know if you can connect the apps to Facebook?
