Windows Phone 7 is slated to be launched in a couple of months from now and it seems like some of the biggies are quite excited about the launch of the Windows Phone.
An AT&T spokesperson sent an email to PCWorld saying that “We’ll be the premier carrier for Windows Phone 7” although they did not elaborate on what role they would be playing as a Premier Vendor.
Windows Phone 7 has been receiving positive reviews by some of the most popular technology blogs, who were provided with the preview unit of the Phone . This news came after a recent tweet by an Altimeter Group analyst Michael Gartenberg about AT&T being interested in buying 8 million Windows Phone 7 units. Although there has been no official announcement from Microsoft about this, we might get to hear of one in the coming weeks, as the launch inches closer and closer.
For years, AT&T has sold phones based on Windows Mobile software and bragged last year that it sold more Windows Mobile devices than any other carrier globally.
This must come as a pleasant surprise to Microsoft after the debacle of their Kin Phone which was launched by Verizon earlier this year. Verizon has refused to talk about Windows Phone 7 since then.
