WordPress to my IE9: You are an insecure browser

Speed Up My PC

Today when I opened my TheWindowsClub WordPress Panel in Internet Explorer 9, I was surprised to see a red box with a warning:

wp ie9 2 600x307 WordPress to my IE9: You are an insecure browser

You are using an insecure browser!

It looks like you’re using an insecure version of Internet Explorer. Using an outdated browser makes your computer unsafe. For the best WordPress experience, please update your browser.

Update Internet Explorer or learn how to browse happy.

The Browse Happy link took me to BrowseHappy.com website by WordPress.

The site offered links to upgrade my browser to Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera and ofcourse IE.

By the way, logging in to the same WordPress Panel using Firefox 5 did not throw up the red warning box. smile WordPress to my IE9: You are an insecure browser

Microsoft really needs to do something about the perception that Internet Explorer is an insecure browser – whereas the fact of the case is that study after study have revealed that IE9 is the most secure browser currently.

No warning for me using FF5 or IE9. Maybe it’s an add-on (Java, Flash) or something.

That maybe because you may not have the IE9 critical security update KB2530548. Open the IE9 About dialog box and see if it says Update Versions: 9.0.1 (KB2530548)

Well, I did see it twice on my latest up-to-date Win7(64)/IE9/WP but have not seen it again after that. :)

Its annoying, but fortunately you can uncheck it in Dashboard>screen options and carry on using IE9 without that red box!

It’s due to IE9 being in “compatability mode” – If you disable the compatability mode the warning will probably disapear.

That’s funny, because Google is slapping Safe Browsing Warnings over top of thousands of wordpress pages.

yup, I get those on all my WP installation with =>latest<= ver. of IE9. No warning in Comodo or FF. I am using IE more and more lataly and find it safer (maybe too restrictive safe sometimes) that FF after the small learning curve.
