Windows Vista Features removed in Windows 7

Windows 7 contains many new features. However certain programs & features that were a part of Windows Vista have been removed in Windows 7. The following is a short list of some important features that have been removed in Windows 7.

Windows Explorer

-Dotted lines that connect folders and subfolders do not appear as the option to turn off simple folder view is missing.
-Automatic horizontal scrolling in the left pane and the horizontal scrollbar.
-The size of any selected item and free disk space are not shown on the status bar.
-Icons on the command bar in Windows Explorer and common application dialogs for Open/Save.
-Auto Arrange and Align to Grid are not available in Windows Explorer windows.
-The Sort bar that appears for any view in Windows Vista only appears for Details view.
-Use of Folder.jpg as the folder thumbnail image.

Windows Shell

-Classic Start menu
-Windows Media Player’s taskbar-integrated Mini-player
-Network activity animation on Network Connections icon in the notification area
-The ability to turn off taskbar window previews
-The ability to disable the taskbar’s “always on top” setting.
-Managing multiple taskbar items with multiselect (Ctrl+click) to group-tile, cascade, minimize or close the selected windows has been removed.
-AutoPlay will support AutoRun only on optical media, such as CDs and DVDs.
-Dynamically pinning default Internet browser and e-mail client software programs on Start menu
-The ability to disable grouping  similar taskbar buttons. Users can still disable combining multiple taskbar buttons of the same type into one button.
-Numerically showing the number of combined taskbar buttons
-Detection of HD DVD was removed from AutoPlay.
- Unlike previous versions of Windows, there is no longer a web browser and email client pinned to the top of the Start Menu by default.

Windows applications

-Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Movie Maker, and Windows Mail
-The web filtering and activity reporting functionality from the in-box parental controls feature.
-The Aurora, Windows Energy and Windows Logo screensavers.
-The sidebar for Desktop Gadgets was removed
-The Contacts and Notes Desktop Gadgets.
-Software Explorer feature of Windows Defender
-Windows Meeting Space
-Windows Calendar
-Windows Ultimate Extras in the Ultimate edition
