More of a window and less of a flag. OK with me.

Hope they didn’t pay somebody LOTS of money to design that!!!!!!

  • Sdgfasv

looks nice but is too simple I think.. They have the title like layout, that impresses me..

  • luis matoso

Simplicity works fine. I like it.

Ok now this is just getting retarded

When u remove the TM and the word windows 8 > purely windows looks to me…

nowadays how advance technology is, that makes it simple no fancy logo… :)

  • No Moolies

Oh happy freakin’ day. Let’s all dress out in baby-blue outfits and do the dance of joy – three cheers to the Microsoft Moolenyans.

  • aumarco

[yawn]… this old lady called Windows hasn’t really thought of anything new since DOS changed to Windows 1.0

  • http://www.drakeintelgroup.com/ Karl

I think Win 8 will hold enough changes for desktop/laptop users as it is, let alone the whole Metro-style recoloring of everything, right down to the logo. Not a good decision.

  • Caleb

I hope they did not pay lots of money to someone to design this logo.

  • Ed

I’m with Joe Lawrence , I hope they didn’t pay someone to design that, I have an eight year old that would have done it for free …. LMAO!

  • Jhabril_Harris

it basically a mixture of the first logo and the 90′s version so technically you can’t start talking trash about microsoft taking inspiration from themselves from something they had always had all along

  • ErnieK

I think it looks washed out and lifeless. If kept in these proportions it will consume a lot of desk space. If reduce to a size similar to existing logo it will be completely unnoticable (is there such a word? It describes my meaning though )

With the existing logo one glance and you know what you have, it is something that has “life”. The new one it looks temporary, a place filler and it is not something I would identify with. They will also have to keep changing it for future versions of Windows.

(On a side note to Andy)
I will get that item put up into the forums over the next week. There was a long internet outage for me this week and I have been busy since then.

    Boring …

  • ErnieK

The following link leads to a reference to a blogg by Sam Moreau (principal director of user experience for Windows)

It explains the thinking behind the new windows logo [?]

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/02/18/new_microsoft_windows_logo/

I am still not impressed with it though

  • jtennison

Got to agree with Joe L. and Caleb. If Microsoft spent more than 1 hour or more than $100, it was a waste of time and money. The new logo is drab and boring.

  • Baadshah

I like that, The new logo of Windows 8 reflects the technology passion of Windows very effectively!

  • Ccarlos4545

Windows 8 with the new “colorful tiles” and a Blah “Logo” it does it make any sense.

  • Guest

correction: it doesn’t it make any sense.

  • Pantonjimrs

It is really awful. It is like missing its identity.

    Metro is rocking everywhere

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue…

Too blue don’t like it I’m afraid. But I think the win8 interface looks awful aswell, they need to candy it up a bit
