These days, if you want a truly attention-grabbing ring-tone you can’t rely on your favorite pop songs. You need to craft your own new & original ring tone. You can now do this easily in Windows 7.

With the new Ringtone Editor, part of Device Stage, you can make ringtones from songs and sound files already on your PC—or get creative with your own recordings. Want to use a track of your dog barking? No problem. You can even make it fade in and fade out.

If your phone supports it, you can also preview a ringtone, save it directly to the phone, set it as your primary ring, or assign it to one or more of your contacts.

To use Ringtone Editor, your phone must be compatible with Device Stage and support creating custom ringtones using Device Stage.

In Device Stage, you can create your own ring tone. After you connect a compatible phone, just follow the steps. You can chose a sound file already on your computer or connect to a microphone and record a sound-track.
