Norton Power Eraser is a free security software from Symantec, which removes deeply embedded and difficult to remove crimeware that traditional virus scanning may not always detect.

If you find that your regular antivirus software is unable to detect or remove persistent malware or crimeware, use the Norton Power Eraser to target and eliminate them. The tool also scans for Rootkits – its Rootkit scan option is enabled by default in its Settings.

Norton Power Eraser uses aggressive methods to detect and remove such threats, and therefor, there is a possibility that it can select some legitimate programs for removal. Use this tool therefore, very carefully, and only after you have exhausted all other options.

The tool however also gives you the option to review past repair sessions and undo them.

    Thanks for the new tool. I haven’t heard of it before. I’ll definitely add it to my flash drive for removing some of the bad ones. McAfee, which I don’t care for much at all, has a virus scanner called Stinger that works well. Usually if Malwarebytes can’t get rid of something, I have to move on to something a bit stronger. Hopefully, this Norton tool can do the trick!
