One of the best software available for Windows is none other than Skype. A solid product that has been around for quite a long time. We like it, but for some odd reason, the service is lacking the option to record Skype voice or audio calls, and that forces the userbase to seek out third-party programs. There are several third-party programs out there for recording voice and video calls from Skype. Some are great, while others not so good. It can be difficult to find the best, but what we should be doing is seeking to find the Skype recorder that works for you.
We came across one known as iFree Skype Recorder, and we have to say, it gets the job done for the most part.
Record Skype calls
There’s nothing special here when compared to other Skype recording programs. It does much of the same things and nothing unique. However, what’s important is how well it can record a conversation, especially for long periods of time.
How to use iFree Skype Recorder
First of all, iFree Skype Recorder is a free software with no time limits to how long one can record. Want to record a 5-hour call? Go ahead; it won’t stop for anything, well unless something went wrong. We didn’t actually record for that long, but the developers did say call recording is unlimited.
After installing this skype recorder software, the first thing the user will come across is the user interface. It’s not pretty but workable. When recording a voice call over Skype, no one will be staring at the user interface on a regular basis, so it shouldn’t matter to anyone what it looks like. What’s important, though, is the fact that the user interface is simple and free from clutter.
Now, when it comes down to recording calls, the software can be set to do this automatically or manually. Automatically means as soon as the Skype call has been initiated, iFree Skype Recorder should begin recording without interference from the user. The Manual mode is the complete opposite, though, and should give folks more control over what happens.
Another thing we like is the ability to record different sides of an ongoing call. This is something only a few Skype recorders have in their feature box, so we’re happy to see iFree Skype Recorder with it right out of the box.
When it comes down to the settings area, just click on the tools icon. From here, we can do many things, which includes the likes of changing the quality of the recorded call. Everything is done using the MP3 format, and it allows us to utilize greater or less bitrate for each call.

Overall, iFree Skype Recorder is a great tool for recording Skype calls. There’s no way to record video calls, but that’s not something most folks want to do. Download iFree Skype Recorder from the official website.
