If you have been waiting to download the final version of Mozilla’s latest version 6.0 of its Firefox browser – it is available for download from Mozilla’s FTP servers (and now also from its home page). I have already downloaded and installed it.

Firefox 6 is however expected to be released officially this coming Tuesday.

This version 6 of the popular browser has the following changes:

  • The address bar highlights the domain of the website
  • Introduces Scratchpad, an interactive JavaScript prototyping environment
  • Introduces Permissions Manager
  • It comes with a new Web Developer menu item
  • Usability of the Web Console has undergone a change
  • Firefox Sync improved
  • The look of the site identity block has been streamlined
  • Support for the latest WebSockets with a prefixed API has been added
  • Includes support for EventSource / server-sent events
  • Support for window.matchMedia added
  • Firefox 6 will start faster when using Panorama

Mozilla has been releasing a major version every few months. To prevent losing market share and to keep up with its competitors, Mozilla introduced a fast release schedule.

    I think i will pass anymore FF updates because the time frame between them and i don’t see a strong point to make me download it, at least not this release.

    The Firefox add-ons are great, but what is happening, they can’t keep up with the upgrades. If you have some favorite add-ons, make sure they are compatible with the new version before you install it.

    I repeat, I have already downloaded from the first link and installed it and the ‘About’ image is you see is from my Firefox 6.

    Just got it and I see no difference than 5.0.1 except for much slower surfing. Probably the worse upgrade ever (I’ve been using FF since 1.0)

    hmmm, i downloaded FF 6 from the link YOU posted, and got FF 6-BETA….
