Microsoft Office Web Apps are now live

Microsoft Office Web Apps are now live and available on SkyDrive to everyone in the US, UK, Canada & Ireland. If you don’t live in one of those regions, you can still get access; you might not get the Web Apps in your favorite language yet, as Microsoft is still rolling out updates to different regions.

With Microsoft Office Web Apps, you can access documents from virtually anywhere. Whether you’re editing a document from home or collaborating with someone around the world, Office Web Apps help you work the way you want.

Office Web Apps are nothing but slimmed down versions of their desktop counterparts. They allow for viewing, sharing & editing of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote documents right in your web browser. Along with access to the tools you also get 25GB of storage space.

Office Web Apps come in two versions:

  • Office Web Apps for home and school
  • Office Web Apps for organizations

To use Office Web Apps you require a Windows Live account.

There are quite a few features for you to check out right away:

  • Upload your docs.
  • Edit a doc right in your browser.
  • Work together in real time.
  • Read your docs on your smartphone
  • And more.

Office Web Apps are designed to work on Windows PCs, Apple Macs & Linux based computers, using Internet Explorer, Firefox & Safari web browsers.

UPDATE: Microsoft Office Web Apps are now available in 150 more countries!
