Ever since Bill Gates stopepd working full-time at Microsoft, he has been keeping himself busy in a very rare way – by donating and giving away his money! He and his wife Melinda Gates have via the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to-date donated over $ 28 billion to various NGOs.

He has saved around 5.8 million lives by bringing vaccines and improved health-care to children world-wide.

While some others may have mocked charity and never did anything in the way of philanthropy, Bill Gates showed the way, set a trend and created a legacy of giving.

He influenced many like Paul Allen, Warren Buffet, Barry Hilton, George Lucas, David Rockefeller, Ted Turner, Mark Zuckerberg and others to pledge over $ 178.5 billion to The Giving Pledge.
