IE9 vs Chrome 9 vs Firefox 4 : A comparative chart from Microsoft

Microsoft has provided a chart on its website where it compares its own Internet Explorer 9 with Firefox 4.0 Beta 11 and Chrome 9.0 Beta browsers.

ie firefox chrome IE9 vs Chrome 9 vs Firefox 4 : A comparative chart from Microsoft

Apart from being the fastest and the most secure browser, Internet Explorer 9 also offers several other features like having support for HTML5 video, full hardware acceleration, etc.

While most will understandably feel that the chart and its findings are biased towards Microsoft’s own browser, I and other TWC readers would definitely like to hear your opinion on what you feel about it and maybe the browsers themselves. Sure, if you have tried all these three versions, you would probably be in a better position to give an opinion.

The old line, “IE sux – Firefox/Chrome/Opera rulz“, does not really hold true now, definitely for these latest versions. I am using the latest Firefox 4.0 too, and yes it too is faster and better in general than its predecessor, but IE9 has improved a lot over its own earlier versions. Incidentally,

Microsoft better hustle — Google just released Chrome v10 this morning.

I doubt about the integrity of this chart…IE9 doesnot even have a progress bar…oh cum on microsoft..!!!

yeah, just a smidgen biased, but also outright false
Chrome past 6 has had hardware acceleration and HTML 5 video playback

notice the wording on the line “provided by default” is key here, in other browsers it’s an experimental feature not turned on by default, but has been around for almost a year

Notifications when addons slow browser performance, chrome has, it hell there’s screenshots of it in their help guide

    H.264 encoded HTML5 video support
touchy subject the reason other browsers dont have it, H.264 is proprietary and W3C REJECTED it as a standard for inclusion in HTML 5, meaning by default IE will not be HTML 5 standards compliant fully,

just a few notes off the top of my head, some basic legwork Im sure would reveal more.

Credit where it’s due, IE9 is a FAR FAR cry from it’s predecessors, and has made leaps and bounds towards becoming a better browser

but it’s this very mentality of trying to do what THEY want, and not what recognized standards boards or users want, instead trying to “sneak one past” as it were, that makes them suffer in the long run

There’s a few items here that Chrome deserves more credit for. For example, Google Instant-type functionality that goes unmentioned under “Visual suggestions”.

Also, what is an accelerator supposed to be? In Chrome it would just be installing an extension that does pretty much the same thing…

This is the most inaccurate browser chart I have ever seen! XD

All of the feature that Microsoft claim IE9 has that the other browser dont is so wrong, especially since both Chrome and Firefox had these things implemented way before even the alpha stages of IE9

  • Rickz80

And yet, I still prefer Firefox. It’s the complements, that’s all. There are a lot in Firefox and most of them are very useful.

I’m sure to say that “IE9 will be the top in the coming years only if they support more Add-ons like Firefox, Opera(extensions) and Chrome!”
I recommend this to the IE fans and The Windows Club Team and the Microsoft workers to inform and pressurize the need of More Add-ons Support in IE9 to its Developers

Sounds all well and good, but like the gentlemen above me stated, it isnt showing some of chrome’s good points, like how i can run it in 3 different OS’s (Win, Linux, Mac) and have synchronized plugins, themes and book marks. Give me IE 9 for linux and mac that can do all that.

looks like Google beat Mozilla again

I love IE9, but I will tell you that all of you guys have the same hate disease that I do. Skrew the personal opinions, give us facts that can 100% be proven. Prove this chart to be wrong.

  • Chromer

I am a Google Chrome person. I used to use Internet Explorer, but when I discovered Google Chrome and tried it, I LOVED IT! It was the greatest browser I had ever seen.

    Chrome 9 beta comparison?
any comparative chart with Mosaic or Netscape navigator 5? :D

    Love live Firefox……

The best browser on the planet……

    Firefox 4 Improved a lot…..

This is good enough for me to switch back……WHEN there’s better theme (possibly greasemonkey)and add-on integration. The add-ons and themes are deal maker/breakers for me. Once Opera got in on the add-ons, I went back to them.(I’ve been an Opera fan forever) It’s kind of a moot point because I don’t see those things happening in the near future. But then again…I didn’t think I’d even be having this conversation 6 months ago.

Where is the tick box for ‘Web browser partially built into the operating system, making PC more vulnerable’?

I wonder what are analysts at Microsoft doing. They have compared IE9 with Chrome 9.0 beta. Are they aware of the fact that Chrome 10.0 is already out much before they have rolled out their IE’s release version!!

Google is seriously making big leaps in technology and leaving all big elephants behind. I have been using chrome since it was launched and prefer it over firefox and IE.
Chrome has seriously changed the way we browse internet.
I am going to try chrome 10 and IE 9 tonight.

    I’ll never back use IE
Never more, even safari but ie never more[2]
