With the release of Internet Explorer for Windows 7 being imminent, Microsoft has made available for download, IE10 Automatic Update Blocker Toolkit For Windows 7.

Business and Enterprise customers who are desirous of managing their own update schedule and want to block the installation of Internet Explorer 10 on their Windows 7 systems, can make use of this Blocker Toolkit.

Microsoft recommends that you update to Internet Explorer 10 as soon as it is made available, but should you wish, you can block its installation, till such a time, your organization is ready to install IE10.

The IE10 Automatic Update Blocker Toolkit can be used to prevent Internet Explorer 10 from being automatically installed on users’ Windows 7 machines when it is available via Automatic Update. This Toolkit has no expiration date and is configured either by running the registry file on the client machine or by deploying Group Policy in domain joined environments. The toolkit also provides an unblock procedure that allows IE10 to be installed through Automatic Update.

This toolkit contains two components:

  1. An executable blocker script
  2. A Group Policy Administrative Template (.ADM file)
