IE 6 users … time to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8.

Starting today, for a month, those visitors to this site, who are still using Internet Explorer 6, will be greeted with the following message :

wordpressieplugin 400x241 IE 6 users ... time to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8.

“Hi, It appears that you are using Internet Explorer version 6.0 or lower. Due to security issues and lack of support for Web Standards it is highly recommended that you upgrade to a safer and better browser like Internet Explorer 8. To upgrade right away, click on the IE logo on the right side.”

Internet Explorer 6 has outlived itself and its really time you chose to upgrade. Do check it out at the Internet Explorer home page.

There is also a campaign called “Browser for the Better“. For every download of IE8 from this site, Microsoft will donate 8 meals to Feeding America.

WindowsClub & WinVistaClub stats reveal that less than 9% of its visitors use IE 6 or lower, probably because the site/s cater to Windows 7 & Vista users primararily.

This site is using Shockingly Big IE6 Warning WordPress plugin. You can customize it and show 5 browsers of your choice viz Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome & Safari. Bloggers / WordPress users may want to check out some IE6 warning plugins here.

Additional ‘Upgrade to IE8′ plugin/code sites :
IE6NoMore
Code Google
IE6Update.
