HTC Arrive Review
The first impression of HTC Arrive is sure to make you confuse it with HTC Evo Shift 4G, but once you get your hands on it, the difference becomes noticeable. The design is sturdy and well put together, if compared to its look-a-like sibling. Featuring a 3.6 inch WVGA display, it sports 16 M colors to make things more attractive. It illuminates Windows Mango’s tile interface making it more attractive and fun to use.
This Windows device features 3 capacitive touchscreen buttons at the bottom viz. Back, Search and Home. The rear features a 5 megapixels camera on top with LED flash residing just above it. Slider must be open to access the battery as notch to open the backcover can only be accessed when slide is open. The left side features a microUSB port and the top edge has 3.5 mm audio jack with power button along side. Open up the slide and the five row QWERTY keypad feels comfortable. Keys are well spaced and comfortable to work on.
In terms of interface offered, Windows Phone Mango really rocks! Thanks to Metro UI, home-screen of any Windows Phone Mango device is home of personal updates. Let it be your mail, social networks or texts; everything is embedded within. HTC Hub provides user a feel of HTC Sense. Microsoft has restricted manufacturer customization in Windows Mango Phones and thus HTC cannot offer features of Sense in Mango devices. People app integrated in operating system is excellent way to keep in touch with Facebook updates and Tweets of people in your contacts. HTC Arrive also sports copy-paste feature that is simple to implement.
If you are not much into opening the slide each time to reply to messages, Microsoft has offered an on-screen keypad, which is very comfortable to use. Sending email is quite irritating sometimes, if you are dealing with Office documents, as each mail can carry single Microsoft Office document. So in order to send more than one, you must send multiple mails. The most fascinating tile on home screen is Xbox Live. Access it with your gametag to take a look at your achievements and updates about competitions.
For multimedia purpose, HTC Arrive features Zune software that is quite decent to use. A 5 megapixels camera is good, but the shutter speed lags noticeably causing delay of as much as 5 seconds. Even the video quality is not impressive with low quality video recording.
If the camera feature is ignored, HTC Arrive can be a good choice as Windows Mango Phone. Its 1 GHz processor and operating system promises a much better experience.
