How to clean up your Facebook profile after a scam

Speed Up My PC

If you have been hit with a Facebook rogue app or a Facebook scam this video from Sophos, will tell you how to clean up your Facebook profile, and advice on how to avoid attacks in the future.

First and foremost don’t click and allow access to any third party apps, unless you are VERY sure about them. If in doubt, do not click or allow access!

Many a times such scams ask permission to post to your Walls and are accompanied by surveys. Every time you or your friends complete a survey, they earn commissions. This is a trick which they are using time and time again on Facebook, earning themselves cash by duping unsuspecting users into taking their surveys. Some surveys even ask you for your mobile phone number.

Whenever any festivals, occasions or events like Christmas, New Years Day, Valentine’s Day, etc, you get to see a spate of such scams! In the past too hackers have taken advantage of such festivals to spread malicious e-cards and trick users into running dangerous code on their computers.

Having cleaned up your Facebook profile, it might be a good idea to clear Internet Cache, run your antivirus software scan and change your Facebook password as a matter of abundant precaution.
