How to add a logo or image to your WordPress blog header

There are thousands and thousands of Blogs, but what makes some stand out is the cool logo or image that they sport in their headers. Adding a logo means adding to the brand name and it is also important, considering the design aspect of a blog.

You can always make a simple logo in Paint or Adobe Photoshop. Or you can search on the internet on how to create one. Many websites also allow you to create a logo absolutely free of cost.

Once your logo is ready, its time to insert it on your blog. In this example, I will be inserting a logo on my blog.

Add a logo to WordPress Blog header

To do so, follow these steps:

1. Upload your logo where WordPress is installed or go to > Posts > Add new > Add an image > (Simply upload your logo now)

2. In the link field, add your blog’s URL .

3. Again, click on the image and go to “Insert/Edit link” Set the target to “Open in the same window”

In short, what we are doing is uploading the logo and setting its link target to your own blog.

6. This is the most important step now. You have to replace this text –

"<h1><a href="<?php echo get_settings('home'); ?>"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1>
<p><?php bloginfo('description'); ?></p>
<h1><a href="<?php echo get_settings('home'); ?>"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1><p><?php bloginfo('description'); ?></p>"

The problem with doing it this way is if you have more than one page it doesn’t work. The logo is only clickable once on the starting page and that’s it. Anybody know how to fix that so it works on all pages?

  • Phil

Nevermind I got it. You do however have to remove the first line after the and replace it with your new code.

hey thank you very much i have been trying for a while now to put a different logo in my blog finally i did it.

I use a WP theme editor for that, you simply click ‘add logo’ and an additional element will appear. you can move it around, resize it, add image/bckg color, borders, round corners, you can set opacity. plus it has some helpful editing tools beside that – you can set the header to transparent and remove the site sitle, description and menu so that only you logo stands at the top of your site.

I’m a newbie, and I would like to place a logo inside my blog. I do not see the image address anywhere, as an option. I don’t want it as a header. How do I place it in the text of my blog, please?
