Google has announced the acquisition of Motorola Mobility, the former Mobile Devices division of Motorola Inc. Under the agreement, Google will acquire Motorola Mobility for $40.00 per share in cash, or a total of about $12.5 billion.

Motorola Mobility has been a dedicated Android partner and this acquisition will allow Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem!

Google has confirmed that it will continue to run Android as an open platform and that Motorola will remain only a licensee of Android and that it will run as a separate business.
Great news for Microsoft-Nokia in my opinion – don’t know what Google was thinking when it decided to by Motorola!
