Just thought I’d point out for folks having trouble with *.dream files : this article is for Windows Dreamscene which just uses *.wmv and *.mpg files/
*.dream files are used by Deskscapes which is a program by Stardock. Hope that helps!

I think this may need more work; also note that it works for Windows 7 ULTIMATE, as noted:
“I’ve tried it on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit and it works just fine”
This appears not to work under lessor versions.

These files have an extension of *.dream, and Windows 7 does not seem to recognize them as graphic files. I wonder about renaming the extension to a known graphic extension, but I wonder too what special formatting might be lost if I do so. I HAVE tried right clicking, but the option to set as a desktop background does now appear on the *.dream extension.

Any more ideas?

Right click on the files and select Set as desktop background. It should work.

I downloaded several of the *.dream ‘dreamscapes’ but they are not recognized when I try to set them as either a wallpaper background or use them with the dreamscene code? Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

This patch doesn’t work on win7 x64 but this one does the same thing (you manually replace the files – exact same process as the cmd posted in the x86 file posted here).
